Lovely morning in the pool at Forest Hill, followed by a huge fry up with the other mums. So time to head to town for a bit of culture. A new gallery opens today displaying one of the oldest copies of the Magna Carta. It is the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta which started the democracy of what is now the UK.
I had never visited the Guildhall before so didn’t even know there was a free art gallery there. And even more impressive is the Roman amphitheatre in the lower basement which was uncovered only a few years ago. The Magna Carta is displayed in the basement gallery. All levels are accessible by lift. A lovely piece of history and art right in the heart of the city.
There are many styles of art, whatever you’re in to.
The amphitheatre has the history of gladiators and some light images to illustrate.
